Fall/Winter at Jaks

Welcome New Students,

I'm sure you will really enjoy being part of JAKS and will love doing "Thoroughly Modern Millie".  I just wanted to give you an idea of what our rehearsal schedule will look like.  We will have our first class on September 15 at Performance Dance in Laytonm 10:00 - 1:00.

But the regular schedule will be:
Saturdays Dance 10:00-12:00 (lunch 12:00-1:00) Performance Dance, 201 E 2150 N, Layton
Saturdays Full Cast   1:00-4:00  Performance Dance
Scene work:  Tues.-Fri.  6:30-7:30 and 7:30-8:30   My house in Syracuse

There will be a dance rehearsal on one night during the week, but I don't have the schedule yet.

***IMPORTANT INFORMATION:   Dance rehearsals are usually for "main dancers" only but will change depending on the needs of the number we are working on.  Main dancers are chosen based on ability and availability to attend the extra rehearsals.

***SCENE WORK REHEARSALS are only for the cast members in the scene we are working on; the larger the part, the more scene work required.

Auditions for parts for Thoroughly Modern Millie will be held, by appointment at my home in Syracuse.  Each cast member must plan to sing a song from the show, performed by the character he or she is interested in playing.  It is possible to audition for more than one part.  I will expect everyone to read a scene of their choosing from the script.  This does not need to be memorized, but should be familiar.  I will post the cast list the first week of October. Everyone will get a part. I try to "double cast" when I can.  Every cast member is expected to perform in every performance.  Even when they aren't playing their part they will support the ensemble.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.  I will schedule a parent meeting to discuss all of the aspects of this commitment soon after the first rehearsal.

Thank you.  I am really excited about this new project.

Jill Wilhelm, Director
